Global Youth Service Day

none

Students at Chahta-Ima Elementary recently held a bake sale to benefit Ugandan families for Global Youth Service Day. Toni Barth’s third grade class learned about families in Uganda and how having a goat would impact the economy and the lives of the goat recipient. They researched and developed a plan to help. The students’ bake sale exceeded their goal, raising $400 toward helping Ugandan families. The proceeds were used to purchase 3 goats and 2 flocks of ducks for families in Uganda. Products & Services

Chahta-Ima students in Toni Barth’s 3 rd grade class recently created their own economy and booths with advertisements and slogans to sell their hand made products and services. Students sure learned a lot about the supply and demand of goods and economic choice while having a ball! Pictured left to right are Olivia Moran and Ashley Casnave.

Caught Being Good

Spring Break Service

Students from Boston College High School in Boston, Massachusetts recently visited Chahta-Ima Elementary School. The students opted to spend this year’s spring break doing service projects in the New Orleans area. While at Chahta-Ima, students worked in teacher classrooms, painted, landscaped playground areas on campus, and worked with the 21 st Century Community Learning Center in the afternoon.

Safety Poster Contest

Chahta-Ima second grader Brianna Kieper will be one of three students representing St. Tammany Parish at the state level safety poster competition this year. Way to go Brianna!

Therapy Dog Visit

Chahta-Ima had a special visit on Friday, January 18, from Scout, a therapy dog owned by school principal Gary Marlbrough. Scout visited classrooms and shared his unconditional love and acceptance with students throughout the day.
