The St. Tammany Parish Public School System is continuing to work through details and guidance to plan for the 2020-2021 school year with the top priority being the health and safety of students and employees. So we can best support our families, students, and employees we ask that parents/caregivers and employees complete a survey.
Complete Parent/Caregiver Survey
Please complete a separate survey for each child.
Complete Employee Survey
Participation is voluntary and responses are confidential. We ask that surveys be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on July 10, 2020.
The parent/caregiver survey addresses topics including the comfort level of students returning to school in person, face coverings, bus transportation and communication preferences. Please complete a separate survey for each child.
The employee survey assesses the needs and comfort level of employees returning to work in August.
As previously announced, our school system is working with individual schools to develop school-based plans that will be fluid and routinely adjusted. We are planning for various scenarios to provide engaging learning experience depending on the phase our state is in at the beginning of the school year. We are considering various learning options including:
• Traditional Learning: Open schools to students while following CDC recommended safety guidelines for class sizes, social distancing, and movement, etc.
• Hybrid Learning: Combination of traditional and distance learning
• Distance Learning: Teacher-led remote instruction and learning
• Virtual Learning: 100% virtual school (no extracurricular activities) with support from STPPS teachers
We are planning to implement protocols based on guidance from health officials, including safety precautions such as handwashing stations, hand sanitizer, social distancing, health screenings, and reducing capacity on school buses, classrooms, and common areas on campus.
Updates and additional information about STPPS 2020-2021 school year planning will be posted at www.stpsb.org/coronavirus.
