A Letter from Superintendent Trey Folse

Dear STPPS Community,

When I took over as Superintendent of the St. Tammany Parish Public School System in 2010, my main goal was to serve Every Child, Every Day. Over the past 10 years, I feel the work we have done as a School System has moved our district forward and helped our students have a successful tomorrow.

Since attending Florida Avenue Elementary for first grade until graduating from Slidell High in 1977, I have always been a part of STPPS. My grandparents, my parents, and my children are all products of STPPS. This is something that I will forever be proud of and grateful for and I hope that legacy will continue with my grandchildren.

For the past 35 years, I have served as a teacher and coach, a high school administrator, and a Central Office employee. STPPS will forever hold a special place in my heart. My colleagues and co-workers along my journey have provided constant support and played a major part in the successes we have been able to achieve. I will forever be thankful for our School Board members, past and present, whose leadership, guidance, and support are sincerely appreciated and valued.

The theme for our School System this year is Leading the Way, and I know that St. Tammany Parish Public Schools will continue to be a leader in the years ahead. We have a wonderful community that values and supports a strong public school system; parents who want the best for their children; Central Office employees who assist our schools in every way; school administrators, teachers, and support personnel who put children first; and students who strive to do their very best. This is a large part of what makes St. Tammany Parish so special and why I am proud to call it home.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as Superintendent. It has been an honor and a privilege. I hope to continue to serve our community and state in my new role with the Louisiana Department of Education.
