STPPS Educators Receive More Than $34,000 in Classroom Grants
(09-05-2019)

Eight STPPS teachers were awarded 2019-2020 Deborah Rochelle Teacher Grants totaling $34,467 from the Kelly Gene Cook Charitable Foundation.

Recipients of this year's grants include: Tanna McNeese (Bonne Ecole Elementary), Kimberly Pechon (Chahta-Ima Elementary), Lacey Dumas (Magnolia Trace Elementary), Melanie Quintana (Pontchartrain Elementary), Katelyn Populus (Sixth Ward Elementary), Christine Clement (Mandeville Middle), Leslie Callaway (Covington High), and Jeanne Dutel (Fontainebleau High).

STPPS teachers have benefited greatly from this grant program for the past 18 years, using them to fund classroom-based programs to enhance learning opportunities and expand technology resources.

The Kelly Gene Cook Charitable Foundation was created in 1986 and funds a variety of scholarship and grants programs. Deborah Rochelle established the Deborah Rochelle Teacher Grant program in 1991 to focus on grant opportunities specifically for classroom teachers.
