Transformation and Imagination (10-26-2018)
Art has the power to transform communities, children, and our world because it encourages us think about what could be.
STPPS students learned that the world is their canvas through Mira's eyes in "Maybe Something Beautiful" by F. Isabel Campoy and Theresa Howell. The book was part of the 2018 Read for the Record campaign to promote the importance of reading and literacy.
Thousands of students and adults at 29 STPPS schools read the book to help the millions of people across the country reading the same book to help set a world record and inspire children to read.
Once again, the Children's Museum of St. Tammany sponsored the STPPS schools' participation in Read for the Record which brings together millions of people each year in classrooms, libraries, community centers, and homes across the United States. This annual campaign was created to highlight the importance of building early literacy and language skills for EVERY child, so that all children have the opportunity to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed.
