For the third consecutive week, Friday Night Football was plagued by weather delays and ended with an overtime thriller.
Mandeville junior Zahn Diaz scampered for 308 rushing yards including three runs of 57 or more yards to lead the Skippers to their first win of the season. Mandeville (1-3) shocked Ponchatoula 34-24 on the road.
Pearl River (5-0) and Lakeshore (5-0) remain as two of the remaining three undefeated football teams in St. Tammany Parish. Pearl River rolled to a 37-7 win over Haynes Academy while the Titans posted a 49-13 Homecoming victory over KIPP Renaissance. Lakeshore has now won 15 straight regular-season games.
Tito Simmons and Harlan Dixon were too much for Covington (2-3) as the duo led Slidell (3-2) to a 34-14 home win. Fontainebleau (3-2) scored 27 unanswered points to shut down Northshore (2-3).
In the night cap, Salmen and Loranger were the last teams to kick off and the last teams to finish. Loranger upended Salmen (1-4) in overtime to stun the Spartans.
