Week 3 of the 2018 #STPPSFootball season didn't start well, but it ended with a bang as three teams posted victories late Friday night.
Trailing 21-9, Slidell (1-2) scored 29 points in the fourth quarter, taking the lead two separate times. Thanks to an Ishmael Burdine TD, the Tigers led Walker with less than a minute to play. However, the Wildcats scored twice in the game's final 48 seconds for a 40-38 win over Slidell.
Denham Springs scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to knock off Fontainebleau (1-2) 37-29. At Jack Salter Stadium, the Covington Lions (1-2) dropped a heartbreaking 19-16 home loss to Dutchtown while Salmen (0-3) lost 24-0 at Hammond.
Lightning delays plagued several games as Pearl River-Pine and Northshore-Biloxi did not kick off till after 8 p.m. Lakeshore-Hancock started on time, but an hour-long lightning delay halted action in the first quarter.
In a battle of undefeated teams, Pearl River (3-0) raced out to a three-score lead and never looked back. PRHS held off Pine 42-18 in Franklinton. Undefeated Lakeshore (3-0) extended its regular season winning streak to 15 games as the Titans posted a dominating 28-7 win at Hancock County.
An hour before the clock struck midnight, Northshore QB Mike Benedict hit Cade Fleetwood for a game-winning touchdown in overtime. The Panthers (2-1) defeated home-standing Biloxi in the OT thriller.
