Lake Harbor Student Named State Doodle 4 Google Winner

Lake Harbor Middle fourth-grader Bailor Wells has been named the Louisiana winner in the annual Doodle 4 Google contest. She is Lake Harbor’s fourth winner in the contest and the fifth STPPS student to win the honor.

Representatives from Google surprised her with the news at an assembly at her school where her artwork was unveiled in front of her fellow students.

See her doodle and vote for her artwork to be featured on Google for an entire day.

Bailor’s art, titled “It’s a Whale’s Life”, was inspired by her favorite family vacation – going to the beach. “While playing in the waves with my toes in the sand, I always start thinking about what lies in the rest of the deep ocean,” Bailor said. “The colors and marine life are so interesting to me!”

If Bailor is named one of the four national finalists, she will receive a $5,000 scholarship, Google hardware, fun Googley swag, and a trip to Google Headquarters in California. If she is the national winner, she will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology grant for her school, and her doodle will be featured on the Google homepage for an entire day.
