Both #3 Lakeshore and #4 Covington improved to 7-0 during Friday night action. Lakeshore extended its best start in program history behind Joshua Hayes' four touchdowns with a 44-0 non-district shutout of H.L. Bourgeois.
Senior running back Devin Brumfield rushed for three touchdowns as Covington defeated Fontainebleau (2-5) 40-7.
#21 Slidell (5-2) closed the game on a 23-7 run to defeat Mandeville (2-4) 23-17 during the Skippers' Homecoming game. Northshore (4-3) notched a 23-0 district road win at Hammond.
On Saturday, #11 Salmen (6-1) erased a 14-point halftime deficit and engineered its fourth 4th quarter comeback of the year. Eddie Smith's 71-yard punt return for a score sent the game into overtime where Smith scored the game-winner.
Pearl River (4-2) has an open date this week.
