The city of Slidell was the site of two thrilling football games Thursday night. Slidell scored 28 unanswered points to complete a 28-14 comeback win over Ponchatoula.
Down the road at Salmen, the Spartans stopped Franklinton on its go-ahead 2-point attempt with 35 seconds left to preserve a 34-33 win. It was Jerry Leonard's 100th career win as Salmen head coach.
Trailing 7-0 entering the fourth quarter, Fontainebleau scored 12 in the final period to pull off a 12-7 win over Hammond. Mandeville raced out to a 21-0 lead behind Tavon Jones' three touchdowns, and the Skippers would hold on for a 28-21 win at Northshore.
STPPS' two undefeated teams remained perfect Friday night. No. 1 Covington (6-0) blocked a game-tying PAT and ran out the clock to hold off St. Paul's 21-20. In Mandeville, No. 3 Lakeshore (6-0) ran away from Lake Area New Tech 49-7.
Mandeville at Northshore was Channel 13's PrepZone Game of the Week.
