Northshore’s Grimes Wins Literary Gold Medal
Northshore High School senior Jade Grimes is a 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards national medalist. She won a gold medal for her short story “Judico” and was the only gold medal winner from Louisiana in the short story category.

Grimes, along with gold medalists from other categories, will be invited to New York City for the National Ceremony held June 8 at Carnegie Hall.

In February, she was one of 15 STPPS students to be named a 2016-2017 National Merit Finalist.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program and become a part of our community—young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets and sculptors, video game artists and science fiction writers, along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.
