Robin Mullett Elected To 9th District School Board Seat (10-21-2009)
|
In a special election held October 17 voters of School Board District Nine chose Robin Mullett, a longtime PTA member, to fill the vacancy left by Carmen Johnson when she resigned the position in January due to a change in employment.
Ms. Mullett is expected to be sworn into office within 30 days.
“I am very excited to be elected to serve on our parish School Board and work with all the people who provide the education for our students,” Ms. Mullett said. “It is a continuation of my work in a number of different areas of our school system.”
She stated that her personal goal is to be the voice for students and parents of District Nine and the community.
A graduate of Salmen High School, Ms. Mullett has lived in Slidell since 1969. She has three children and has been active for many years as a PTA officer and volunteer. She has worked as a paraprofessional in Special Education in St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and also served as a TAP Tutor.
Her involvements include working with the School SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) recertification committee, the “Teen Focus on Safe Driving” program and as a member of several Slidell High School parent committees.
In addition, she was Director of the Slidell/Pearl River Project Graduation 2009 and is a Life member for the Junior Auxiliary of Slidell, chapter of National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, volunteering for several Junior Auxiliary projects in St. Tammany Parish elementary, junior high and high schools during her five years as an active member.
Michael J. Gambrell was appointed as interim Board Member for District Nine in February and has been serving over the past several months. He chose not to run for the position in last Saturday’s election.
