National Merit Finalists and National Merit Scholarship Winners Recognized ::..

The outstanding graduates of the STPPS class of 2016 added to their list of impressive accomplishments as School Board Members recognized the district’s National Merit Finalists and National Merit Scholarship Winners at the May School Board Meeting.

This year our high schools had 13 finalists. Four of those finalists were chosen as National Merit Scholars. These students join an elite group of top performing high school seniors in the country.

Matthew Myrtue from Fontainebleau High and Dana Park, Benjamin Rowley and Katherine Simmers from Northshore High were named winners of $2,500 National Merit Scholarships. Katherine Simmers was also recognized for being named a Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist.

Summer Vacation Begins for Students ::..

The 2015-2016 School Year has come to a close for students with the last day on Friday, May 20th. The next school Session begins on Monday, August 8th.

School Board Offices will be open throughout the summer from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays.



Superintendent's Award Winner and Finalist Recognized ::..

The Superintendent's Award for Outstanding Character and Citizenship was presented to Mandy Donegan, a teacher at Pontchartrain Elementary who exemplifies the award on a daily basis inside and outside the classroom.



Nicknamed “The Encourager” by her peers, she is known for being there for students and staff throughout the school.

Her impact on others extends into the community through the non-profit she founded to help empower, equip and educate children.

Finalist for the award was St. Tammany Jr. High student Karisa Greenlee. Karisa is known for her friendly personality, initiative and kindness.

Community Organization NAMI St. Tammany Hosts Guest Speaker ::..

NAMI St. Tammany, a community organization, is hosting an event featuring a guest speaker on mental health.

Author Kevin Hines will share his story of “Cracked Not Broken: surviving and thriving after a suicide attempt.”

The event will be held at Benedict’s Plantation at 1144 N Causeway Blvd. in Mandeville on Friday, May 20th at 7pm. It is free and open to the public.

2016-2017 Teachers and Principals of the Year Announced ::..

Three teachers and three principals have been selected as the STPPS Teachers and Principals of the Year.



The 2016-2017 District Teachers of the Year are Jerrilyn Swett, Lancaster Elementary, in the Elementary Division, Veronica Fucich, Bonne Ecole Elementary, in the Middle/Jr. High Division, and Quay Brisco, Slidell High, in the High School Division.

The 2016-2017 Principals of the Year are Arlana LeBlanc from Mayfield Elementary in the Elementary Division, Mary Hart from Mandeville Middle in the Middle/Jr. High Division and Frank Jabbia from Northshore High in the High School Division.
