Please Read and Follow All Directions Carefully
1. PREPARATION OF APPLICATION - Complete all sections of the application.
2. APPLICATION RECEIPT - When an application arrives in the Human Resources Department it will be processed and then a letter of acknowledgment will be mailed to inform you of any items that might be missing. All applications are kept on file one (1) year from the date of the application. To maintain the application in an active status, the applicant must update the application every year. Calling the Human Resources Department can accomplish this process
3. SEXUAL MISCONDUCT DISCLOSURE STATEMENT - Applicants must complete, sign and return this form. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete status of the application.
4. DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION FOR BACKGROUND CHECK – This form supplies information that will allow the Human Resources Department to perform the necessary background checks. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete status of the application.
5. CONSENT TO PERFORM A BACKGROUND CHECK FORM - Applicants must complete, sign and return this form. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete status of the application.
6. PRAXIS - Praxis scores should accompany the application. Photocopies or “Examinee Reports” will be accepted. Information about Louisiana requirements for the Praxis can be obtained on-line at www.teachlouisiana.net or by calling the Louisiana State Department of Education, Certification Department at 1-877- 453-2721.
7. HEALTH INSURANCE VESTING FORM – This form provides information relative to health insurance coverage after retirement. Applicants must read, sign and return this form. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete status of the application.
8. CURRENT LOUISIANA OR OUT OF STATE CERTIFICATION - Provisional certification status may be granted to applicants who are certified in other states. Applicants uncertain of their eligibility for certification are urged to call the Louisiana Department of Education, Certification Department to clarify their status.
9. REFERENCES – An applicant must submit two (2) completed and signed Reference forms. A supervisor (Superintendent, Principal, Assistant Principal, School Supervisor of Student Teaching, College Professor, College Supervisor of Student Teaching) who would have first-hand knowledge of your character, personality, and teaching ability must complete and return them to our Human Resources Department.
10. PREVIOUS EVALUATIONS - As mandated by Louisiana R.S. 17:3884(D), the St. Tammany Parish School System is required to request your most recent evaluation results from your employer. This form is included in the application packet. Please complete the top section only and deliver the form to your current or most recent employer. If you have no previous teaching experience, this form is not required.
11. COMPLETE APPLICATION - All sections of the application must be completed and received by the Human Resources Department before an applicant can receive vacancy information or be considered for an interview.
12. SUPPLEMENTS - Applicants must submit the following documents: Current Louisiana teaching certificate or current out-of-state teaching certificate; if certified in another state, proof of three (3) years teaching experience (letter from school) or proof of student teaching; if enrolled in an alternative certification program, a letter for the program provider stating that applicant is enrolled in an alternative certification program, identify the area of certification and eligible to hold a Practioner’s license (PL); Transcripts; NTE/Praxis scores; Sexual Misconduct form; Demographic Information for Background Check form; Consent to Perform Background Check form and Health Insurance Vesting form.
13. TEACHER PLACEMENT FAIRS- The St. Tammany Parish School Board will hold two Teacher Placement Fairs each year. The Placement Fairs are by invitation only! Once the Human Resources Department has received a completed application packet, the applicant is then eligible for employment with the St. Tammany Parish School Board. If the above information is received by February 1st of each year, the applicant will be invited to the first Placement Fair in early March. If the above information is received by May 1st of each year, the applicant will be invited to the second Placement Fair in late May/ early June. If the above information is not received by the deadlines, the applicant will not be invited to the Placement Fairs. However, the applicant will be considered for employment for vacancies that occur after the second Placement Fair.
