UPDATE: Monday, March 23, 2020

Grab and Go Meal Distribution Suspended
The St. Tammany Parish Public School System “Grab and Go” meal distribution program will be suspended effective immediately. Our School System is looking at alternative ways to distribute food to families in our community, and state officials have advised us there may be other statewide meal distribution possibilities.

We know this is an important service for our families in need at this time, but the safety and health of our students, employees and community remain our top priority. We appreciate the STPPS Food Service Managers, school administrators, and the PTA and community volunteers who worked last week and today to provide this service to our families. We will continue to follow the guidance of health officials as we evaluate the best and safest ways for our School System to provide support.

STPPS will continue to provide updates with information and resources via robocalls, the district website, and district social media channels.

UPDATE: Friday, March 13, 2020

ALL STPPS SCHOOLS CLOSED EFFECTIVE MARCH 16
Governor John Bel Edwards issued an executive order closing all public school facilities to students in Louisiana until Monday, April 13, as a precautionary measure against the transmission of the coronavirus. All St. Tammany Parish Public Schools will close to students, effective Monday, March 16. This closure includes all STPPS athletics, activities, clubs, and events.

Beginning Monday March 16, all students are not to report to school.

School-based employees should not report to work until they receive further direction from their principal. STPPS administration is evaluating the situation, reviewing the Governor’s proclamation, and working with BESE to make the best decisions for our district. The School System will be issuing further school-based employee guidance next week.

School System leaders are working with school administrators and employees to implement plans to provide support services for students and families.

We understand that this will create hardship for many families. Our teachers, support staff, employees, and administration are grateful for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through this difficult situation. We will get through this challenge together.

We will continue to monitor the development of COVID-19 and will plan accordingly, in partnership with local, state, and federal health and government officials. We will be sending updates with information and resources via robocalls, the district website, and district social media channels.
