Unit 6 Module B Description:

Readers identify and retell key details using the text and illustrations. Students will formulate an opinion and support it with one or more reasons and text evidence. The rich diversity of the United States and celebrations foster understanding between cultures.

Target Standards:

Reading Informational:

RI.1.2: Identify the main topic and retell key details of a text.

 

Writing:

W.1.1: Write opinion pieces in which they introduce the topic or name the book they are writing about, state an opinion, supply a reason for the opinion, and provide a sense of closure.

 

Foundational Skills:

RF.1.3: Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.

 

RF.1.3.d: Use knowledge that every syllable must have a vowel sound to determine the number of syllables in a printed word.

 

RF.1.3.e: Decode two-syllable words following basic patterns by breaking the words into syllables.

 

L.1.4.b: Use frequently occurring affixes as a clue to the meaning of a word.
