Unit Length and Description:


Five weeks



In Unit 3, students will read about being friends, children around the world, and family as they compare and contrast fiction and nonfiction. They will learn the importance of listening to learn and understand. As students read, they will analyze story structure, make predictions, compare and contrast, find main idea and details, and find the authorís purpose. The phonics and spelling skills are long a, s blends, diagraphs, long I and triple consonant blends. Students will continue to develop fluency and word automaticity as they blend words and look at syllables in words. Students will strengthen communication skills as they read, write, listen, and speak with their classmates.
