Mandeville Elementary Raises Funds For Cancer Society ::..
Mandeville Elementary recently raised $1,188.59 with its very own Relay Recess event, the proceeds to be donated to the American Cancer Society. Students donated twenty-five cents each for links to add to a classroom chain, a dollar for luminaria bags, and a dollar to wear a cap for the actual day of the event to promote sun safety awareness.

School Hosts Thanksgiving Feast for Friends and Neighbors ::..
Carolyn Park Middle School’s annual “Feast for Friends” brought together more than 600 people from neighborhoods around the Slidell school to enjoy dinner on November 25, a volunteer project of dozens of school workers and community helpers.
The seventh annual “Feast for Friends” event was the continuation of a Thanksgiving week tradition that has developed deep community connections. “This is one of the most special events during the School Year for the community,” said Superintendent W. L. “Trey” Folse, III. “And it is a perfect community connection, because it reaches the ones who need it the most.”

Six District Teachers Honored By State PTA As Educators of Distinction ::..
Six St. Tammany Parish Public School System teachers were congratulated at the St. Tammany Parish School Board meeting Thursday night for winning top honors in this year’s State PTA Educators of Distinction program. The awards were announced by the Louisiana Parents Teachers Association at its recent state convention.
Each November, PTA’s at each school select one teacher as an “Educator of Distinction” and each school winner submits a packet to the state PTA for consideration as one of the ten state Educators of Distinction.

Black and Gold Day in School System Helps Fund Childrens Museum ::..
Students and employees across the St. Tammany Parish Public School System celebrated Friday, November 15, as “Black and Gold Day.” The fund-raising event collected donations for the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany, an educational resource being planned by the Junior League of Greater Covington and other community organizations.

They showed their support for the New Orleans Saints Football Team and the Children’s Museum of St. Tammany by wearing their “Black and Gold” for a donation of $1.00 or more. Over the past three years, the School System has participated in the annual fund-raising projects for the museum, donating more than $64,000 through contributions by students, faculty and administrators to support the worthwhile community project.
School System Donates $24,851.88 For Breast Cancer Awareness ::..
A check for $24,851.88 was presented Thursday night by Superintendent W. L. “Trey” Folse, III, to representatives of the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. The donation came from the proceeds from an October 3 fund-raising event held throughout the St. Tammany Parish Public School System.
The check presentation took place at the November School Board meeting held at the Brooks Educational Complex in Slidell.
